Mandi Philpott

Position Title
Partner

Mandi was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised in Northern California. She attended the University of California-Davis, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Genetics. She moved back to the Pacific Northwest to attend the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College where she graduated with her law degree in May of 2002.

While in law school and continuing after graduation, Mandi was a criminal defense and juvenile defense trial lawyer for the Metropolitan Public Defender Office working in both Washington and Multnomah Counties. As a trial lawyer, she defended adults and children in hundreds of court proceedings from juvenile dependency matters to measure 11 jury trials.

In 2008, Mandi became an associate lawyer in private practice, where she continued to represent clients in criminal and juvenile matters, but expanded her area of practice to representation in family law proceedings, including restraining order and stalking order matters. In 2010, Mandi opened her own law firm in Oregon City, practicing family law, criminal law, juvenile law and occasionally acting as a prosecuting attorney for the City of Oregon City. In 2018, Mandi co-founded Schaleger Philpott, PC with her colleague Rebecca Schaleger.

Mandi’s courtroom experience has translated well to representing clients in family law proceedings and she continues to represent adults and children in criminal and delinquency matters. Mandi is also often appointed by the Court to represent children in family law cases. In her practice, Mandi will work diligently to reach an appropriate resolution to cases through the negotiation process, but when it is apparent that negotiation will not resolve the matter, because of her vast courtroom experience, she is well-prepared and well-qualified to litigate the issues in court and zealously forward her client’s position.

Mandi is a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a Co-Administrator of the Juvenile Advocates of Clackamas, the consortium that handles court appointed dependency and delinquency matter is Clackamas County. Mandi is a proud member of an active-duty military family. Mandi is a step-parent to her adult step-son, who is an aviation mechanic in the Marine Corps. When Mandi is outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, and is active in her children’s youth sporting and recreational events. She volunteers as a board member for a youth sporting organization. She enjoys camping, fishing and traveling with her family, and walks with her dog.
